Tonight Hokie needed to make Platinum. He needed to do about 475 VPPs in like 3 hours so I took half his action on the 110s and railed his games. We also discussed hands and reads over mics. He ended up making 505 bucks going 7-2 and another 52.50 in a 55. He was still about 150 short with 5 minutes to go (he ran into a ton of passive fish) so we did a 500 + 20 and a 200 + 10 and he paid my rake. I lost the flip on the 500 so now my sharkscope took a dive, but I got the 200.
All in all I made over 275 on Hokie's run, and another buyin or so from my games earlier.
Now to August goals:
Make platinum in 3 weeks.
Satellite into a seat for the WCOOP HU event (I'm 0-2 so far).
Play the 220 HU MTT on Sunday at least once (I'll probably sell some action on it and buy some up from another HUer).
Get my bankroll to 10k.
Get the HU Coaching site up and running by third week of August. Have at least 10 subscribers in the first month, 15-20 by month 2.
Take shots at higher games.
As for the last one, I feel I'm playing really well as of late and that I can take some shots at the 220s. I've been challenging almost every single player that sits with me to play 2 tables with me. One player has accepted out of like 30-40 so far. I don't mean to say this as a brag, I think this just highlights the kind of people that play outside of their bankroll in the 110s. I routinely play nutty players that have an average stake of 10 dollars and have played only a few 110s.
So I will be taking some shots soon (almost certainly) and I will blog about these and probably end up writing a little article on taking shots, a guide perhaps? I have some strong opinions about shot taking and efficiency with bankroll and the mental condition(s) in relation to shot taking.
I have some jobs to do with my business tomorrow so I'm going to cut this short. I had some other stuff I wanted to talk about that I can't seem to remember now.
Entries to come more frequently.

Goal Review
About 400 vpps away from Platinum Star.
About 6-10 buyins away from doubling bankroll from end of June/early July when I made my goals.
I haven't learned HU cash yet, mainly because I haven't had the time to get my feet wet with it.
All in all I've done ok with my goals.
And a golf update, I forgot to update how I did at the best ball memorial outing. I did pretty well, the course we played was pretty damn good and I hit the pin about 60 yards out on the 2nd hole for my first ball used. I then sunk the 6 foot putt for #2 ball used. I also had a ball used on a 160 yard par 3 and some other chips and short irons used.
I played 27 holes today, did ok, started kinda crappy but ended well. I'm probably averaging about a 105 now on a par 72 6300 length course. Maybe a 110 average. Considering I haven't played in like 6 years this is pretty good. My goal is to break 100 consistently and shoot a low 90s score by the end of this year. I'm still taking a 3 iron off the tee, as I can't hit the woods worth a shit consistently.
I'm gonna try to play at least 16 games tomorrow and another 20 or so Monday. I also want to satellite into the WCOOP $320 HU event. So far late at night when I want to enter the sats nobody is registered.
Coaching site is moving along, more info as soon as I get the basics setup.

Grinding Away
I keep having these boring days in the 110s. I'll play 10-15 games, sometimes a little more and I'm either down 200 or up 200, nothing more and nothing less. Kind of ugly variance it seems lately, my ROI at the 110s is 6.5% right now I believe (over 250ish games). I'm at least 10 buyins away from my goal for the month but I am on pace for platinum star.
Hopefully things can heat up soon, I'm really comfortable playing these and feel I'm playing pretty well overall. I've made some mistakes but I'm playing extremely solid overall and feel I should be enjoying a little bit more of an edge in these compared to what I am seeing in the competition.
A few "regular" players are still sitting with me once in awhile, namely plowking22 and scottybcash. This is annoying because these guys seem to just want to stick it in preflop throughout the whole match, especially scottybcash. I'm 2-1 vs plowking and 1-1 vs scottybcash, but it is so boring and dumb to play them when they sit 2nd with me. I tell them both each time, sit first or sharkscope who you're sitting with. Plowking seems to honestly forget or at least humors me, Scottybcash seems like an idiot.
In other news, Hokiegreg mentioned on his blog about a HU coaching site. I had an idea for a type of site that will cater mainly to lower level players, but will also offer some stuff for higher level players. I'm still in the organizing stage and will update when I've moved along a little further on this project. Dboy and Hokie are going to be helping me out with this. Omgwtfnoway will probably be helping as well and I have interest from several higher stakes HUSNG players. That's about all I will say for now, look for updates in the near future.
Bankroll still within 50 either way of 5k, not sure exactly right now.

:(
I just got done reading Jman's blog. It's depressing because his blog is so good.
That's all.
Playing well (I think) running pretty bad (I think).
Bankroll $5k+ (also about 350ish in stakes/transfers, so I guess I'm up like 7 buyins since last post, eh).
On track for Platinum Star after a lot of games the last two days.

Doing better
Had a good last two days, as did my buddy who plays 6 max on my account.
Made some good money today from my business, about 50 an hour if not a little more for 4 hours.
I got pulled over on the way home in between a semi shitty town and a ghetto by a white cop. He freaked out on me, but in the end just said to get the fuck out of town. Not sure why he pulled me over but he made up all this bullshit about my truck and trailer not being safe, I think a tall, young white guy really threw him off as most people in my business are generally kind of redneck, old or both if they are white. The rest are generally mexicans that do sealcoating. Either way, good not to get some bullshit ticket or get my trailer impounded (which he said he should do).
If anybody is interested in doing a group stake type deal thing, email or leave a message here.
Hokiegreg and I were talking about doing something with 3 other players, so 5 in total, where we each ante up 110 and somebody plays a 550. Equal action obviously on this. We could do it where we play this a few times a week, once a week, or a lot more often, I don't care. I'm definitely fine playing some fish or breakeven in a 550 as I'm sure a few others are. I think it'd be a fun +EV thing to do with semi-low variance (I mean what doesn't involve variance at 110s+?).
That's about all, more updates and pictures (finally I have a digital camera, the old one got lost in the move) soon. And I'm just behind the pace for Platinum through 10 days so far.

Question of the Day
A person with deep pockets says he will stake you a % of a buyin for a 5500 + 100 HUSNG. You have to shove every hand though. You will keep all profits if you win. What is the highest % of the 5600 buyin that you would be willing to put up for this offer?
Without thinking too deep, I would probably put up 1700 max. That would leave me with 2k if I lost. I haven't thought that hard about it though.
Been running fairly bad and playing not so great. Moved down to 55s for a little bit to work on some stuff and have played much better in the last 20 games or so. Going to be at 110s really soon provided I don't run into trouble the next day or two. A little behind but still close to being on track for Platinum Star. It will happen. Updates soon.
