220s

Beat a fellow Chicago player in my first 220. Felt I had a few good reads on him in our short match, here's the hand:

Second match was a lot longer. I may have called down a bit too much but I felt I really knew when I was ahead and the rivers really priced me into calling against my assumed range. A few rivers really sucked. Since I don't post hands a lot I'll show some of the good and bad ones.

The second to last one was tough, the last one was semi-close against his pushing range but a standard call.

Anyways, I'm breakeven in the 220s so far, going to take a little break and try to find another fish. Obviously I'm going to need to run fairly well no matter if I'm on my A game or not. Even at the 33s in which I consider myself a very good player, I lost a few in a row more than once. That was ridiculously bad variance but the fish at the 110-220s are probably a little better than my sitting with anybody at the 33s. Not by much though, some people would be very surprised, then again if you sharkscope somebody and see they've lost 5k+ aka 25-50+ buyins at 110s/220s I guess it's not a shocker to think they belong in a lower level game.

Bankroll $3,599.63

Degen BR $612.63

Now that I look at it, I could afford to play another 110. I'm kind of in the "in between" level of whether to play a 220 or play a 110. Personally, I feel I've played pretty close to my best in all of the 110s and 220s I've played so far. I definitely feel a little more of a "race" in the body I guess in the 220s, and I am extremely comfortable in the 110s.

So maybe I'll play another 110, this is kind of a decision I've put off, what to do in the "in between" buyins where You're very near 3 buyins. We shall see.

220s in the near future

Doing well.

Won another after my post last night.

I lost my first one today, very first hand, dude open shoves I call with TT, he flips AK and hits a K on the turn. If I do the math against a fishy player that is going to open shove on the first hand of a 110 I feel a good range is 66-JJ, sometimes QQ (but just as often a pair like 66 or worse) and almost never KK or AA. Add to that AK plus maybe AQ or even worse and I'm well ahead and will call everytime.

I've won my second two after that one, here's a nice hand vs a guy that also open shoved on the first hand and open shoved a few hands later:

Moved into new place, will put up some pics when everything is unpacked.

Have only played 2 games at the new place. This was the very first hand I played here (discounting a friendly game to test the connection at the 5 dollar level):

Guess he put me on ace high...

I lost my first game today to one of the bigger fish I've played at the 55s. I had just taken a beat in which he called 2 barrels with ace high no draws, and was down to 900 in the 50-100 blind. He limped, I raised to 600, and he called with T5o. Flop came KJT. I shoved for 300 he took some time and made the call. Turn 8, river 2.

I'm at 227 or so in this challenge, so +117. Pretty shitty considering the length of time I've put into this, but I also have not played really at all in the last 5-6 days. Hopefully this week I'll make a nice run and be in the 550s or something before reaching some sort of limit and downswing-challenge done type end to this. I won't run it broke like a real degen, I want to get some actual monetary reward for taking the time to do this challenge. More on that sometime when I'm actually making money with this challenge.

Bankroll $3,314.63

Edit:

After going 0-2 in the 55s I've won 3 in a row followed by my first win at the 110s.

So Degen BR is now 433ish. Will be playing another few after Sopranos hopefully.

Bankroll $3,419.63 (transferred 100 to the guy that inspired this challenge, he stopped over with 100 bucks cash for the transfer, driving a total of 90 minutes. He is a true degenerate).

Short Update

Keep running bad in these 110s, at 232 now for the challenge. 0-2 at 110s. Stressful day today with the move into my new place, tomorrow will be just as bad most likely, don't know if I'll get to play.

Girlfriend's degenerate father won 10k on a lottery ticket (he spends a few hundred a day on them though) and is giving her a third of the win. Not sure what the tax is for that but I'd imagine at least 25%, so she's looking at 2500 tops, maybe closer to 2k, either way pretty cool for her.

Hopefully some more action-packed updates soon with hands and such, I've been semi-lagging on posting hands here for awhile, sorry.

Degen Challenge Update 3

I've finally started to see some light in this.

Up to 290 from the 100 in this thing. Went on a good run the last two days, winning my last 4-5 33s, then 3 55s and then I lost a 110 against a pretty big fish, more on that in a sec. I just won my last two 55s, one of which I got a little lucky on when I made a bad move.

As for the 110, I got the perfect fish for me to play in my first match at this level. I don't think I would have a bigger advantage against many other players than this one, unfortunately he floated me with one over card in raised pots within 3-4 hands of each other and hit to even the match. Even at this I was pretty ok with because I lost the minimum on the hands. Then he flopped two pair to my top pair queen kicker and we got it in. I felt the play was fine because I was definitely ahead of his range and felt my read on his range was very solid. Overall, disappointing results but I was very happy with my play at this game.

In other news, Crounder is somewhere around 1400 in this challenge. He's on a nice little heater it appears and should be on 550s soon. One thing about his run is he has stayed playing 110s when he should be playing 220s. Hopefully he wins a few 550s in a row because moving down to a level you've never played may cause confidence problems if you run bad at that level. That is why I did not advocate skipping levels in this degen challenge, but rather moving up and down according to a ridiculous bankroll guideline. There are few rules in this thing but I kept them at a minimum so the rules that I have for them I feel are very important. Regardless, best of luck to him and may I see him at the 5500s rather soon.

I'm also starting to move into my new place tomorrow so I probably won't have time for more than 3-5 matches. It's also my buddy's 21st birthday so I'll be busy in the night.

Bankroll $3,382.38 (Note: Bankroll reflects my buddy winning 86 bucks last night in cash on my account in which we split, other than that I have only played games within this challenge since the start)

Degen Challenge Update 2

I've been running like crazy horrible during this thing. The original 100 bucks is at 120 bucks or so right now, so another 33 win and I'm at the 55s again.

So far I'm 1-2 in the 55s and something like 17-12 in 33s. Had some really tough beats, handled it well through the first like 20-25 games but I think the last 5-10 games I have been playing fairly subpar. The last 3 games I have won and I feel I've started to get back to my A game.

On the other hand, Crounder33 has enjoyed a good bit of success in this degen challenge so far. While I don't have the specific numbers for him, he just won another 110 and I believe that puts him at close to 650 dollars total in this challenge. That's a profit of 550 and he'll be on 220s next. Good luck to him and hopefully I join him soon enough.

I also missed the VIP freerolls today which is kind of upsetting.

Degen Challenge Update

Been running like shit in these 33s. I went 5-3 last night to take me up to 8-7, up for the first time in this thing.

These are the final 2 hands of the first two matches I've played today. Hand 1 is kind of "meh," I should've raised a little more probably. Hand 2 is just gross.

Anyways, 8-9 now, feels like I've moved down and will never move back up. In hindsight it would've been nicer to start with 200 and just play the 55s I had been playing.
